Frequently asked questions
What airport do you recommend flying into?
We recommend flying into Cherry Capital Airport (TVC) in Traverse City, Michigan. It’s the closest major airport to the retreat and typically offers the most convenient flight options. From TVC, it’s about a 1–1.5 hour drive to the retreat location in Gaylord.
Some guests also choose to fly into Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) or Gerald R. Ford International Airport (GRR) in Grand Rapids, though both require a longer drive.
Will there be bathrooms and showers on site for guests?
Yes! We have indoor bathrooms available on site, along with additional porta-johns throughout the property for convenience. For tent campers and all on-site guests, we are providing multiple shower trailers exclusively for VWR 2026 to ensure everyone has easy access to clean, comfortable facilities.
Is the food 100% organic, and what types of food will be served?
We’ve hired an Organic Produce Verification Manager for VWR 2026 to ensure the highest quality ingredients possible. While not every item will be 100% certified organic, the majority of our produce will be.
All meals at VWR 2026 will be 100% vegan and completely free of salt, oil, and sugar (SOS-free). Our menu focuses on fresh raw foods, tropical fruits, and vibrant plant-based dishes. We’ll also offer Instant Pot WFPB staples like brown rice, quinoa, and potatoes, along with a rotating selection of flavorful, health-enhancing sauces to accommodate different preferences.
What is the expected attendance for the 2026 Vegan Wellness Retreat?
VWR 2026 is projected to be our largest retreat yet, with an expected attendance of 300+ guests from across the U.S. and beyond. We’re excited to bring together a vibrant community of wellness enthusiasts, families, speakers, and coaches for an unforgettable experience.
Is fruit available all day, even between meals?
Yes! We keep fresh fruit available throughout the day, so guests can enjoy nourishing options between meals whenever they like. You’ll also have access to our vacuum-blended smoothie bar, open daily from 8:30 AM to 8:30 PM, offering fresh, high-quality smoothies made to order.
What kind of desserts can we expect, and will there be new dishes each night?
✨ Sweet News for VWR 2026! Each evening will feature a fun themed dinner paired with a unique, handcrafted dessert — a highlight you won’t want to miss! 🍰
We’re thrilled to welcome back Chef Lilla and Sous Chef Ocean, who will once again be creating their signature, mouthwatering desserts exclusively for VWR 2026.
Be sure to check the itinerary for each night’s delicious theme — every dinner promises something new to savor and celebrate! 🌿
Is this retreat exclusive to vegans?
Not at all! While the retreat is fully vegan and SOS-free (no salt, oil, or sugar) in its food offerings and overall philosophy, you do not need to be vegan to attend. We welcome anyone who’s curious, health-focused, or simply open to experiencing a plant-powered weekend. Many guests come from a variety of lifestyles and enjoy discovering new foods, habits, and wellness practices in a supportive, judgment-free environment.
What kind of weather can we expect in mid June in Northern Michigan?
Mid-June in Northern Michigan is generally mild, comfortable, and perfect for outdoor activities. Daytime temperatures typically range from the low 70s to mid-70s (°F), with cooler evenings that may dip into the 60s. You can expect a mix of sunshine and light breezes, with the occasional chance of a brief rain shower.
We recommend bringing layers—a light jacket or hoodie for mornings and evenings, comfortable daytime clothing, and a rain-resistant layer just in case. Overall, it’s a beautiful time of year to enjoy the lake, outdoor sessions, and the natural surroundings.
How does the cancellation and refund policy work?
You may cancel your reservation up to 90 days before the retreat for a full refund minus processing fees. After that window, refunds are no longer available; however, your ticket will roll over as a credit to the following year’s retreat.
If you’re on a monthly payment plan, you may cancel at any time, but please note that payments already made are non-refundable. Your ticket will only transfer to the next year if your balance is fully paid.
Are there any lifting competitions or fitness related activities at the 2026 Vegan Wellness Retreat?
Yes! VWR 2026 includes daily, optional fitness fun—designed for all levels:
“Vegan Olympics” daily Lift of the Day (friendly, low-pressure challenge with simple standards and form coaching)
Strength & conditioning sessions (bodyweight and light implements; scalable for beginners to advanced)

All activities are voluntary and scalable—participate as much or as little as you like. Safety briefings and coaches are on hand to help you choose the right variation for your experience level.
What types of accommodation are available, and how is tent camping organized?
We offer a mix of indoor lodging and designated tent-camping areas on the property. Indoor rooms are limited and tend to fill quickly, while tent camping offers a fun way to stay close to nature and be steps away from the lake and activities.
Tent campers will have access to:
Flat, spacious, clearly marked camping zones
Nearby porta-johns and indoor bathrooms
Multiple shower trailers just for VWR guests
Morning and evening quiet hours for a peaceful stay
Whether you choose a room or a tent, all facilities are within convenient walking distance of the main event spaces.
What should I pack for VWR 2026?
We recommend packing comfortable, weather-appropriate layers for warm days and cooler evenings. Here’s a helpful list:
Light jacket or hoodie
Comfortable walking shoes / sandals
Swimwear (for sauna + cold plunge and optional lake activities)
Yoga mat
Refillable water bottle
Flashlight or headlamp (for campers)
Sunscreen, hat, bug spray
Towels and toiletries
Extra blankets or sleeping gear for tent campers
Portable fan or battery pack if desired
Mid-June weather is mild, but bringing layers will ensure you stay comfortable throughout the day.
Are children welcome at the retreat?
Yes! Families are welcome at VWR 2026. While the retreat is not specifically designed as a children’s program, many parents bring their kids to enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings, fruit-forward meals, and wellness activities. Parents/guardians are responsible for supervising minors at all times, and certain sessions may be best suited for adults.
What is included in my retreat ticket, and are there optional add-ons?

Are there any shuttle or rideshare options from the airport?
